Henri Fantin-Latour created several lithographs inspired by the music of Hector Berlioz, including a portrait of Berlioz and illustrations of his compositions. A well-known example is the lithograph "A H. Berlioz" from 1897, which can be found in the Van Gogh Museum. There are also lithographs that reference the Symphonie Fantastique and other works by Berlioz. Like this one "Sara the Bather" created by 1888. It is part of a series of lithographs inspired by the music of Hector Berlioz, published in a book on the composer by Adolph Jullien. The work depicts a nude female figure, probably inspired by the character of Sara in Berlioz's opera, "Béatrice et Bénédict. Fantin-Latour was one of the first artists to use lithography as a standalone art form, particularly for his dreamlike and symbolist depictions, often based on music.
